Lifebelt saved by Ernest St. Clair

Ernest St. Clair was a nineteen-year-old waiter aboard Carpathia when it received Titanic’s call for assistance. When the Titanic's lifeboats were taken aboard, many of them were ransacked by souvenir hunters. Young Mr. St. Clair saw an opportunity and saved a lifebelt and two thole pins from Lifeboat No. 9 for himself. In 1962 he donated the items to the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The overall measurement of the lifebelt are listed as 300 x 470 mm.[1]
